If something is clean, is it sanitary and disinfected? Survey says... no


I recently had the misfortune of being sick enough to require a hospital stay of 5 full days. To say that my stay was disgusting and awful is an understatement. For example, on my first day, the nurse accidentally knocked my juice onto the floor. No big deal, right? Just clean it up. So housekeeping arrived about an hour later to mop it up. 
I stood up to use the 'facilities' and found myself sticking to the floor. The floor stayed sticky and gross for the remaining 4.5 days of my stay. On top of that, doctors and nurses just dropped everything on the floor. Discarded bloody gauze? Throw it on the floor! Used gloves? Throw them on the floor too - bonus points if you touch your face with the gloves on before you touch the patient! 
Anyway, my stay in the hospital got me thinking. If something is clean, is it also disinfected? Well - my research definitely says otherwise.
